How to Make Chocolate Cake with Avocado Instead of Eggs and Butter

This vegan chocolate cake is super tasty and loaded with healthy fats at the same time. It comes with soft, smooth frosting and it’ll be your favorite light dessert.

Vegan Cake Recipe


  • 1 mashed avocado
  • 5 tbsp. of dark chocolate cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp. of baking powder
  • ¼ cup of olive oil
  • 2 tsp. of baking soda
  • ½ tsp. of kosher salt
  • 3 cups of flour (coconut or rice flour are the best choices)
  • 2 tsp. of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tbsp. of white vinegar
  • 2 cups of organic sucanat sugar

Ingredients for the Frosting

  • 2 mashed avocados
  • 5 tbsp. of dark chocolate cocoa powder
  • 1 cup of sugar


Preheat oven to 350 ºF. Take two 9-inch round cake pans, and grease and flour them. Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt in a large bowl. Then, whisk the olive oil, white vinegar, vanilla extract, avocado, and water in a separate bowl. Add the organic sucanat sugar once it’s well combined.

Next, add the avocado mix to the flour mixture and stir well to get a smooth consistency. Once combined, divide the mixture evenly between the two cake pans, and bake for around half an hour, constantly checking it.

Let the cakes cool in the pans for around 15 minutes, and then take them out of the pans. Spread a layer of frosting on one of the cakes, and then just top with the other one. Spread the rest of the frosting to the top of the cake.
